The Short Version
Fablewyn has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no user database. Your reading progress stays on your device. The app talks to the internet for exactly two things — downloading narration audio and generating AI stories — and neither involves your name, email, or any personal profile.
Information We Collect
Fablewyn does not require accounts and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or contact information. The app does not maintain any user database or cloud profile system.
To prevent abuse of the AI generation feature, the app uses a randomly generated, anonymous device token (provided by Google Firebase). This token is not derived from and cannot be linked to your identity, and it is used only to enforce fair-use limits on story generation.
Local Storage
Fablewyn stores the following information only on your device:
- Generated stories
- Story progress and visited scenes
- Unlocked endings
- AI generation count
- Purchase state
- App preferences
- Downloaded narration audio (cached so it isn't re-downloaded)
Fablewyn does not upload or synchronize this data to any server. If you uninstall the app, this locally stored data is deleted.
AI Story Generation
Fablewyn's story generator works from selections you make in the app — genre, style, and story type. There is no free-text prompt; nothing you write leaves your device, because the app never asks you to write anything.
When you generate a story, your selections are sent to a server operated by Pineforge Studios (running on Google Firebase), which relays the request to Anthropic's Claude AI to produce the story text. This design keeps API credentials off your device and lets us enforce generation limits without requiring an account.
These requests include:
- Your story selections and generation parameters
- The anonymous device token described above
Our server keeps basic request records (the anonymous token and request timestamps) for rate limiting and abuse prevention. These records contain no personal information and are not used for advertising, profiling, or analytics.
As with any internet request, your device's IP address is technically visible to the servers involved (Google and Anthropic) while the request is processed. Anthropic processes generation requests under its own privacy policy; Fablewyn does not store the stories on any server — the finished story is returned to your device and lives only there.
Narration Audio
Story narration is downloaded from Google Cloud Storage the first time you play a story (by default over Wi-Fi only; you can allow mobile data in the app's settings). This is an ordinary file download — no account, token, or personal information is attached to it — and the audio is cached on your device so it is only downloaded once. As with any download, your IP address is visible to Google's servers as part of standard internet communication.
Narration audio is produced by Pineforge Studios ahead of time using ElevenLabs voice technology. The app itself never communicates with ElevenLabs, and no user data is ever sent to them.
In-App Purchases
Fablewyn offers an optional premium subscription (billed monthly or annually) that unlocks premium narration, story packs, and a monthly allotment of AI story generations. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play. The developer does not receive or store payment information.
The app may receive confirmation from Google Play that a purchase has been completed in order to unlock premium features. Your premium status is stored on your device, not on our servers.
Analytics and Tracking
Fablewyn does not use analytics, tracking tools, advertising identifiers, or behavioral monitoring. The app does not track how you play stories or collect usage metrics.
Data Security
All network communication (narration downloads and AI generation requests) uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Because story data and progress are stored locally on your device, you retain control over that data. Fablewyn does not maintain a central database of user information.
Children's Privacy
Fablewyn is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because some stories are generated by AI, content may vary and is not individually reviewed.
Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time if features of the app change. Updates will be reflected by revising the effective date at the top of this document.
